Hop A transfer of weight from one foot to the same foot, with the
other foot usually beside the weight bearing foot. Used often in Serbian
dances.
Leap A transfer of weight from one foot to the other foot, usually
accompanied with a hop or chukche.
Chukche This is done by raising on the ball of either feet and
striking the heel on the floor. Most of the time this is done on one
foot, but on occasion it is done on both feet. This comes from a
Macedonian phrase meaning, a small hammer blow. This movement is very
common in Macedonian dances. This is an integral part of Pushteno
Oro.
Lift Almost a hop except that the ball of the foot does not leave the
floor. Usually accompanied with a raise of the other leg. The other leg
than would have the knee bent away from the body, and the toes facing
the ground. This is as usually done to Lesnoto or Kasapsko Oro.
Pas-de-Basque This is a French phrase taken from ballet (pronounced
pah da bah). With the weight on the left foot, leap onto the right foot,
cross with the left foot and step in front or beside the right foot and
simultaneously lift the right foot. Step on the right foot in place and
simultaneously lift the left foot. You are now ready to do a
pas-de-basque on the left side. Although usually done to the right and
left, sometimes it is done to the right, then left, then right as in
Narodno Oro.
